ABOUT

Jay Shaffer is a versatile cinema professional. He praises his strengths as a Video Editor and Cinematographer, but also has a strong passion for storytelling, writing, and taking on leadership roles as a Director and Producer.

He has obtained his Bachelor Degree in Arts from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA with a major in Digital Cinema & Television. He also received two minors, one in English Studies and another in Documentary Studies. He currently works full time at WTAJ-TV in Altoona, PA as a Production Director and Video Editor.

His various experience within the field has prepared him for whatever projects people wish to involve him in. His experience includes creating personal projects and short films, freelance work for respective clients, behind the scenes segments for theatrical work as well as other short films, and on-set experience with Production Masters Inc in Pittsburgh, PA.

In an industry that is becoming more and more focused on making a profit, he feels that the art of storytelling and creative thinking is slowly dissipating. In an effort to save and restore the true craft behind filmmaking, Jay wishes to continue creating independent projects that have significant meaning with underlying messages that the world might need to see brought to life.
